Creativity vs. Calculation: Creativity Wins!

We all want our wedding to be memorable, and beautiful.  No bride wants her guests to feel like little effort was put into it, or like she made bad choices, stylistically.  Our wedding puts our love on a pedestal, and also our style.  The choices we make in decor, in styling the people in our wedding, in our venue and the details, put our taste on display.

There is no equation for a beautiful wedding (unless you count passing your wedding on to a professional you trust).  There is no certain theme that is guaranteed to find a great balance between elegant, memorable, and YOU.  The trick is to put you and your groom’s taste in the details.  Like many grooms, yours may not be too active in the planning process, so that’s where you find ways to incorporate little pieces of his personality.  This has become much more common in recent years.

This doesn’t have to mean a Star Wars wedding, or a tacky Elvis wedding like Vegas, it certainly doesn’t mean you need to go the route of this bizarre wedding photo.  It means finding small ways to express yourselves.  Some grooms wear sneakers with their tux to incorporate their style.  I recently saw a wonderful wedding that had “dirt cups” in place of a groom’s cake, because that was what the groom loved.  Most men would not put together an affair to be proud of, if they planned all the details; so this is where you make some compromises to incorporate his taste!

People love a beautiful wedding, but just as much, they love a wedding that feels personal.  A wedding that they leave feeling like they know you better.  So just remember to incorporate pieces of your personalities, your individuality and who you are as a couple, in your wedding.  It’s memorable and it won’t change with the wedding trends!

Peacock Wedding Inspiration Board!

Just a little inspiration for the ever-popular Peacock wedding theme.  It can be done in any variation of blues, greens, purples or even browns.  We used a J-Crew bridesmaid dress, bouquets by Art Fire, and an amazing cake that we couldn’t find the artist of; and of course we featured some of our peacock designs (the invitation, ceremony program, table card, and place card).  There’s much more than we have pictured (a response card, menu card, favor box, and note card), so go check it out!

There are so many ways to incorporate this theme, with one of nature’s most decorated designs!  Are you thinking of going with a peacock wedding theme?  What are your ideas?

Inspiration: Vintage Carnival

Featuring our IntriCutz Carousel Design Items (invitation, response card, table card, place card, menu, and favor box), this is just some inspiration for your fun vintage carnival theme.  It’s easy to build around with cute ideas for your food themes and displays and photo booth ideas.  Not for everyone, but it just may be the perfect blend of fun and beautiful for your wedding!

Glass jars to display colorful candies, tickets that can be found in party stores or ordered online, sparklers for your sunset/evening departure, and let IntriCutz complete your theme. This amazing cake was done by Catherine Scott, UK.  This theme opens you up to a broad spectrum of bright colors and a whole lot of fun ways to incorporate your theme, from carnival foods and designs (like cotton candy) to the incredible photo booth options the theme gives to you.  The beauty is, everything that goes along with the theme contributes visually to make it very engaging and put-together!  Want more ideas for this theme?  Just google “carnival wedding”!

Mix It Up: Why You Don’t Need To Feel Married To One Pattern Or Idea!

A recent trend in weddings is to draw the appeal, less by how perfectly symmetrical and flowing each detail is; but in mixing and matching.  For example, instead of all big circle tables or all long tables, mixing and matching table shapes and sizes.

Maybe you have your colors, but are trying to switch things up to keep it from looking too rigid:  Try using different textures and patterns in your décor.  You may be surprised at how beautiful your display is when you mix it up and go outside of matching every little detail.

There’s something to be said for unpredictable combinations, whether you’re mixing polka dots and stripes or solids, damasks, and argyle, or beautiful tea-room style vintage china.  Your boldness to use patterns together that no one else thought of looks creative, while also fashion forward and sometimes even regal.  Don’t be afraid to experiment, until you find what you LOVE.  The combination may lead to an aesthetic that you love exponentially more than the pattern or idea you started out with!
