It’s a great day for a white wedding [cake]!

In recent years, wedding cakes have taken all kinds of trends to incorporate wedding colors, from ribbon wrapped around the cake, to polka dots, to damask patterns.  Fondant icing has opened up the wedding cake world to endless possibilities.

A trend of 2011 and 2012 weddings is going back to the traditional white (or ivory) wedding cake.  Whether adding different textures to each layer, the appearance of an embossed floral pattern, or just a clean and smooth texture; never underestimate the power of “less is more” when it comes to the colors of your wedding cake.

The most recent fame of the recycled trend was brought by the royal wedding’s beautiful ivory wedding cake.  Cake-maker, Fiona Cairns, spent 5 weeks putting together an eight-tiered wedding cake with 900 sugar-paste flowers (bearing symbolic meanings), and a combination of other designs, including a garland on the cake that matched the architectural garland in the room the cake was presented.

So, I’m not saying it’s for everybody, but it’s definitely a returned trend worth considering!  Like I said before, often times when it comes to colors, sometimes less is more!
